this is not really about muffins

What this means exactly is still a mystery to me. Is this an account of a real life event or something made up? Why is the man under the house and why did he get stabbed by the beam? The diagram on the bottom is also intriguing.

Update: I put the note in a plastic sheet protector and taped it up on the board. Whenever kids ask, I tell them there is "an investigation" underway and the note has been fingerprinted and possibly DNA tested. Any information regarding the note should be given to the authorities. They don't know whether to believe me or not.
